We
do softball, too!
JUNE 30 TO
JULY 3, 2008
AGES 8-16
Ken Ulrich
is not soley for baseball. This past summer, we added a week
of
softball camp which went very well, and we will continue to offer
a week-long softball camp for summers to come. Our week of softball
is open to all girls age 8-16.
A
native of West Nyack, Tara Ulrich has joined her brother, Ken's
staff, and will be running the softball session of camp. One
of the most decorated student-athletes in the history of Hofstra
University, Tara became the first player in Colonial Athletic
Association (CAA) history to earn four all-conference selections.
Ulrich finished her career with the Pride in 2006, where she
ranked in the career top 10 in several offensive categories including
home runs (2nd with 29), hits (8th, 191), runs batted in (6th,
133), games played (6th, 219), at bats (6th, 658), and doubles
(5th, 46).
Much like
our baseball camp, our week of softball will run from 9:00 to
2:00,
Monday thru Thursday. Tara Ulrich and her staff will teach all
of the fundamental skills that will help each camper succeed
on
the
field. It is important for youngsters to learn the proper techniques
in all areas of the game, so that when each child finishes camp,
she will have a greater understanding of how to practice and
play
the right way in order to improve their own personal ability.
Areas such
as hitting, fielding, pitching, catching, and baserunning will all
be emphasized with drill sessions in the morning, followed by games
among other campers in the afternoon. In addition, each camper will
learn a number of different drills, many of which can be used from
little league level all the way up to the Big Leagues, in every
aspect of the game that can be practiced in one's own backyard or
at a nearby park.
The focus of
the Ken Ulrich Softball Camp will be around teaching each individual
the proper way to play the game, while also stressing the importance
of having fun and enjoying everything that the great game of softball
has to offer.
Each child's camp
experience will be sure to be a fun one, with at each week's end,
there will be a pizza party for all of the campers, where several
prizes will be awarded, including Mets and Yankees tickets, batting
gloves, fielding gloves, and autographed memorabilia. Upon registration,
each camper will also receive a free Ken Ulrich Softball Camp T-shirt.
